Friends of Pelsall Common

The friends of Pelsall Common met on Sunday morning on the common to clear up some of the undergrowth around Heath End Pool near Commonside. Councillor Clive Ault met Maureen Payton, Garry the ranger, several other friends and local residents who all helped to clear the area near the pool banks.

I would like to pass comment in the strongest of terms about one particular restriction on Pelsall common, the riding of horses. As a life longer member, as are my parents, of the Pelsall community it is my understanding that Pelsall common is common land and as such I could graze my horse on the common but can not ride on there! I could understand if I was planning on doing break neck speeds but I am sure walking on the common does no more damage than the frankly annoying jazz band practicing on there on Sunday. It also most annoying that the rules get changed to suit, ie donkey rides on carnival day and in fact yourself riding on there to celebrate St Georges day. It would be interesting to actually canvess the people of Pelsall as I am sure the vast majority would not object to what is after all a typical village activity. I would appreciate your comments as I feel this is an infringement of my common rights!

hi i just would like to raise concerns for the fish in the pool on pelsall common(common side).due to the bad weather and ice on the pool many fish have died in the pool, some very large carp have been seen dead on the bank.i have contacted the environment agency about this who took a look and they rang me back informing me that this was down to trapped gas under the ice and also the pool is very silted up causing the fish to be trapped in ice and have no depth in the water for the fish to go down to warmer water.is there any way the pool can be cleared of silt in the summer to prevent this happening again?or further fish losses may occur
